Mission Statement The mission of Dominican Hospital is to continuously improve the health of the people of our community by delivering compassionate, high quality, affordable health service, providing direct services to our sisters and brothers who are poor and disenfranchised, and advocating on their behalf. Essential to the mission are the core values of dignity, excellence, cooperation, justice, and stewardship.
Volunteer Duties Volunteers come from all walks of life and consist of people who want to make a difference, give back, form new friendships or obtain beneficial work experience.

Dominican Hospital continues to be the popular choice for healthcare volunteers in the Santa Cruz area. Due to the high level of interest, our volunteer programs frequently become impacted.

All volunteers must commit to 100 hours (approximately six months to 1 year) of service.

Annual health and safety reviews, specialized training, as well as job evaluations are required. All volunteers must have a tuberculosis (TB) skin test. You will be required to have a TB test each year for as long as you are a volunteer. In addition, there may be immunization records required before you begin. A background report will be performed for all General and Auxiliary volunteers. Social security number verification and criminal history will be checked.

In addition, once processing is complete, all volunteers must attend a General Hospital Orientation (GHO).
